Meet the artists who are joining us for the 20th Anniversary.

Etual Ojeda - Spain

He is the pioneer and world-renowned figure in sand sculpture. Considered by many to be the best sand artist in the world, he returns to participate in the Las Canteras Sand Nativity Scene, taking part in the tribute to one of the most internationally acclaimed Canarian artists, Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre.

Jan Zelinka - Czech Republic

He began creating sand sculptures in 2005 in southern Spain and after participating in the 2009 FIESA festival in the Algarve, Portugal, he has participated in numerous international events, both in Europe and in countries such as Australia, China, Indonesia, Colombia, the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

David Billings - Canada

One of the pioneers in sand sculpture, he has a consolidated career in the international circuit, recognized for his meticulous technique, his artistic sensitivity and his ability to transform sand into works full of life and narrative.

Coming from a solid background in visual arts, he has participated in some of the world's most prominent sand sculpture events, including in Canada, the United States, Russia, China, Taiwan, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Australia, India, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Finland, and Denmark.

Karen Fralich - Canada

A Canadian artist, she began her international career in 1999 at the Las Canteras International Meeting of Master Sand Sculptors, after which she participated in numerous events that have taken her from the United States to Europe and Japan. With her realistic style, this artist, who is enamored with Gran Canaria, has sculpted scenes from the Nativity to the Exodus in her many contributions to the Sand Nativity Scene and has become a valued member of our Nativity Scene family.

Karen Fralich - Canada

Isabelle Gasse - Canada

Originally from Quebec, she has worked for over a decade at the intersection of film and ephemeral sculpture. With a strong poetic sensibility and respect for natural materials, her diverse artistic practice includes sculpture in ice, snow, sand, and wood. She has worked on numerous national and international projects, such as the Ice Hotels in Quebec and Sweden, and has participated in several exhibitions and symposia on ephemeral sculpture in North America and Europe.

Isabelle Gasse - Canada

Jamie Louks - United States

A multidisciplinary artist, she began her artistic career over 20 years ago, specializing in sculpting cakes, chocolate, and sugar. Since then, she has expanded her skills to include modeling sand, ice, and other materials, leading her to participate in numerous festivals in both the United States and Europe.

Kevin Crawford - Australia

A living legend within the international circuit of sand sculptors, he participates for the second time in the Las Canteras Sand Nativity Scene to bring us all his art and experience acquired during decades of sculpture around the world.

Sue McGrew - United States

A highly talented American sculptor, she has shared her art across five continents. This is her eighth participation in the Sand Nativity Scene, and she is the creator of the 2024 Nativity scene, which was chosen by the Spanish National Lottery (Loterías y Apuestas del Estado) to illustrate the lottery ticket for the December 25, 2025 draw, with a print run of 6,000,000 copies, as a tribute to our Nativity Scene.

Fergus Mulvany - Ireland

An Irish sculptor specializing in sand since 1995 and a regular participant in the Sand Nativity Scene, he highlights the high quality of his finishes, which we were able to enjoy especially in 2022 with his work of the Annunciation inspired by the Angel of the Dunes by Pepe Dámaso, and which has been chosen by Correos de España to illustrate the commemorative stamp launched last year with a print run of 700,000 copies as a tribute to our Nativity Scene.

Bentejuí Ojeda - Spain

A self-taught sculptor since 1998 and a regular participant in the Sand Nativity Scene, he is an expert in both modeling and sand preparation, a crucial aspect of these events for ensuring the longevity of the sculptures in open spaces. He has worked for over twenty years with Etual Ojeda, the world's leading figure in sand sculpture, making him his most accomplished student.

Las Canteras beach , in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is the best to enjoy as a family , thanks to the quality of the water, easy access and the range of leisure activities.

Opening hours: every day from 10:00 to 22:00 without interruption.

Except for 24/12, 31/12 and 5/1/22, which will be from 10:00 to 20:00.
